| The COVID-19 outbreak in 2020 has touched the hearts of countless Chinese people.While focusing on the epidemic,the author translated a large number of relevant texts and accordingly accumulated experiences and thoughts.Thus,the subject of COVID-19 was selected for my translation practice and research.Through reading and analyzing the original text,it came out that the content of the text includes a large number of technical terms,characterized by accurate and normative words,clear and rigorous logic.Guided by Peter Newmark’s theory of semantic translation and communicative translation,the author conducts a detailed analysis of the cases in translation practice from both lexical and syntactic perspectives,and studies the unique terms and sentence structures in scientific texts.This paper uses the methods of addition,omission,division and revision to translate,summarize and reflect on the content of the text.The aim is to provide a new perspective for scientific translation,specifically on the topic of COVID-19,guided by semantic translation and communicative translation,so as to improve the quality of scientific translation.This report typically consists of five parts.The first part is a description of the translation tasks.The second part is an overview of the translation process.The third part is the introduction to Peter Newmark’s theory of semantic translation and communicative translation.The fourth part is the core of this paper,which specifically analyzes the translation skills,difficulties and its solutions in translating the original text under the guidance of semantic translation and communicative translation through cases analysis.The fifth part is a summary of the experience and shortcomings of translation practice. |
