| This report is based on the E-C translation of a scientific and technical text Multi-pin Aerospace Connectors’Manual.And the translator was entrusted by Emeishan Desheng Technology Co.,Ltd.to translate this text.This manual is a typical scientific and technical text,which mainly introduces the structure,technical performance and operation of each part of the EPX~?connector.This report mainly analyzes the translation of the Multi-pin Aerospace Connectors’Manual.Combined with linguistic features of scientific texts,the translator adopts Peter Newmark’s semantic translation method and communicative translation method to translate the source text and analyzes some details in translation from the perspectives of vocabulary,syntax and text.In view of the linguistic characteristics of scientific and technological texts,the Text Typology of Peter Newmark is applied to serve as the theoretical guidance of this translation practice.In consideration of the differences between English and Chinese,the translator applies translation techniques which include amplification,omission and conversion to accurately convey the information of the source text,so as to increase the readability of the translation,and put forward solutions to the problems in the process of translation.Through this translation practice,the translator not only has a profound understanding of the linguistic characteristics of informative texts,but also recognizes the guiding role of Text Typology on such scientific texts.In addition,the translator also realizes that the successful translation is a combination of the communicative translation method and semantic translation method,which should not be separated in translation.Only when the two translation methods are combined effectively and flexibly can high-quality translation be produced.Finally,the translator hopes that the analysis of this translation practice can serve as a reference for the translation of this kind of text and promote the further development of the translation of English manuals. |
