English reading is an important way of information input,laying an important foundation for English listening,speaking and writing.The English curriculum standard of senior high school puts forward higher requirements of the reading capability of senior high school students,which highlights the important position of reading in English learning.In the new reform of the college entrance examination,the proportion of reading comprehension in the score of college entrance examination is increased.Meanwhile,the examination of students’ capacity of using reading strategies is intensified.Therefore,it is particularly important to cultivate students’ ability to properly use English reading strategies.However,in the actual classroom teaching,many teachers follow the traditional teaching mode,causing students to show little interest in English reading.Such a teaching mode can neither train high school students’ capability to properly use English reading strategies nor reflect the idea advocated by English core literacy.Against the background of the new curriculum reform,flipped classroom teaching mode is different from traditional teaching.Before class,the author provides learnning materials for students to study independently in advance.In class,a variety of activities are conducted to help students solve problems.After class,the important and difficult language points are delivered to the students again to consolidate their knowledge.This teaching mode pays more attention to stimulating students’ enthusiasm for learning and improving students’independent learning capacity and exploration cooperatively.These characteristics are consistent with core qualities required in the English curriculum standard of senior high school.With the aim of proving the effectiveness of the flipped classroom teaching mode,the author introduced the flipped classroom teaching in Jingdu Middle School.This study focuses on the following three research questions:1.What reading strategies do senior high school students usually use in English reading?2.In what way could flipped classroom teaching mode improve high school students’awareness of using English reading strategies?3.What is the effect of reading strategy training on students’ reading performance under the flipped classroom teaching mode,compared with the traditional English classroom?In this study,the author adopted the methods of questionnaire,survey and test.Fresh students of two classes in Jingdu Middle School were selected as subjects.A specific flipped classroom English reading teaching mode was designed,with the first and second compulsory English courses of People’s Education edition as teaching materials.Then flipped classroom English reading teaching mode was applied to the teaching of the EC.After the end of the experiment,the author also conducted a post-test and post-questionnaire,collected relevant data,processed the data with SPSS,and finally came to a conclusion.The results of this study show that the application of flipped teaching in high school English reading teaching is effective.First of all,flipped classroom teaching can raise high school students’ awareness of applying English reading strategies.Secondly,flipped classroom teaching can help high school students improve their English reading performance.In addition,the author puts forward some suggestions on how English teachers make better use of flipped classroom teaching mode in future English teaching,and provides references for high school English teachers.
