Epitaph is a kind of inscriptions.As a kind of underground literature,it preserves a large number of historical materials,shows the social customs and the use characteristics of language at that time,and plays a very important role in the study of the history of Chinese language and the development history of Chinese characters.Therefore,epitaph literature has a very high research value,and has attracted the attention of historians and linguists The premise is to interpret them correctly.This paper takes the collection of epitaphs of the past dynasties collected by the Palace Museum as the research material,which includes 234 epitaphs from the Three Kingdoms to the Qing Dynasty and 122 brick epitaphs from Gaochang.Among them,there are not only the antiquities collected by duanfang taozhai,but also the collections of Zhou Jimu,Ma Heng and other famous collectors in the period of the Republic of China.In 1930,Huang Wenbi,an archaeologist,excavated the brick records of Gaochang in Turpan,Xinjiang.Most of them were received from the Forbidden City in the 1950 s and 1960 s.Most of these epitaphs are from the northern and Southern Dynasties and the Tang Dynasty,especially from the Tang Dynasty.It is probably because the epitaphs of this period were written in the style of official script and regular script,which is easy to read and there are many unearthed documents.They are also the most widely studied epitaphs in the academic circle.The epitaphs collected in this book were all unearthed in the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China.A large number of epitaphs were collated and collated,which provided a very good reference for the study of ancient epitaphs.Because there were a large number of common characters and variant characters in the epitaphs,and the inscriptions were scattered for a long time,there might be some problems in interpretation.Therefore,on the basis of careful comparison with the original rubbings,we should make use of various explanations and explanations This paper studies the arguable points in the records from the perspective of philology,lexicology and history.This paper is divided into four chaptersThe first chapter is the preface,which mainly introduces the origin of epitaph inscriptions,research purposes,research status and research methods used in this paper.The second chapter makes a textual research on the difficult characters in the book.Some of the mistakes are caused by the scattered stone steles and fuzzy glyphs.Some are caused by the ignorance of popular writing and allusions.The third chapter is the textual research of the difficult words in the book,some of which are not included in modern dictionaries,and some of which are included,but the citation after the meaning appears too late.The fourth chapter is the correction and supplement of the recorded articles in the book.Some of them are not explained due to various reasons,some of them are blank,and some of them are errors in sentence reading caused by incorrect grasp of the meaning of the text.
