The Research Of Characters And Vocabulary On Han Wei And Six Dynasties Epitaphs From The New Epitaphs Compilation Of Qin Jin Yu

The Han Wei and Six Dynasties is a great period for the development of inscription on tablets.The literature of different types have developed completely,and different styles also have stabilized.In this period,especially in the Wei,Jin,Southern and Northern Dynasties,massive materials on tablet inscription have already been recorded repeatedly,and these are important materials to study the language,history and culture of The Han Wei and Six Dynasties.In recent years,the work of collecting and cataloging tablet inscription has made great accomplishments,and a series of compilation of tablet inscription are published,such as The Epitaphs compilation of Qin Jin Yu,hereinafter to be referred as compilation,which is published by The National Library in 2015.Compilation includes 103 epitaphs of The Han Wei and Six Dynasties.There are 47 epitaphs of The Northern Wei Dynasty,15 epitaphs of The Eastern Wei Dynasty,6 epitaphs of The Western Wei Dynasty,22 epitaphs of The Northern Qi Dynasty,and 13 epitaphs of The Northern Zhou Dynasty.The collection of this part of the materials is beneficial to studying the development status of language,history,and culture in Han Wei and the Six Dynasties.The New Epitaphs compilation of Qin Jin Yu has included many epitaphs of The Han Wei and Six Dynasties.Some of them have been recorded in other works or have been specially studied.Most of the study is recorded in a few single paper or chapters.And a greater part of the calligraphy is published for the first time.However,the book has not conducted a comprehensive research up to now.So this paper takes this material as the research object by combining and contrasting from both the diachronic and synchronic perspectives.First of all,this paper collects and researches the variant characters on epitaphs of the Han Wei and Six Dynasties,tending to raising awareness of the development of variant characters.It’s of great benefit to grasping the historical development of Chinese character,examining the origin of the font and examining the changes of font.Secondly,this paper collects and researches the place names in the epitaphs of the Han Wei and Six Dynasties.There are a lot of place names in the epitaphs,which is rarely recorded in official history.They contains a wealth of historical and cultural information,and can supplement the ancient codes and records.Finally,this paper collects and researches the military words in the epitaphs of the Han Wei and Six Dynasties.The regime of the Han and the Six Dynasties changed frequently.The war has been going on for years.The terms of weapon equipment and war emerges frequently in the period.Social change is best embodied in the vocabulary of language.Military words can provide us with an important clue to understand the current war situation.This study can fill the gaps in the study of military words in the Han Wei and Six Dynasties,promote the research of Military words in Chinese lexicology and show the basic features of military life in Han Wei and Six Dynasties.This dissertation includes four chapters:The first chapter is an introduction,which includes the overview of the research,the significance,status reasons,methods and difficulties of this research.The second chapter mainly includes the research of variant characters.We can figure out the study on the classification and definition of epitaph variant characters in the Han Wei and Six Dynasties.Using the classification method of variant characters by Mao Yuanming,we classify the variant characters into eight types: shorthanding,increasing complexity,homologation,catabolism,transformation,mixed,displacement and symbolization.Then we enumerate the different font samples of variant characters,analyze and investigate them.The third chapter is about the study of place names.First of all,we recount the definition,existence form and structural form of place names one by one.Secondly,their naming motivation are studied by means of taxonomic methods.Place names are divided into four categories: compound place names,named of physical geography,named of events,named of history and culture.The fourth chapter is mainly about the study of the military words.First of all,the scope of military words is defined in this chapter.Then we put the military words as a starting point,studying about five categories of military words: the appellation of military personnel,military action,armament,military management,strategy,war policy,the war object and the military said.The main purpose is to study the meaning of the word,the features of the word,the relationship between the polymerization and the different stages of the development of military words and their laws.Finally,this chapter summarizes the characteristics of military language,the semantic change and the transformation about part of speech.
