A Study Of Zen Thought Of Weishan Lingyou

Zen is a typical representative of Buddhism in China.In the late Tang Dynasty and the five dynasties,Zen developed into five sects,which were called "one flower and five leaves ",and Weiyang Sect was the first leaf of " one flower and five leaves",Weishan Lingyou was one of its founder.At current,the academic research on Wei Yang Sect is concentrated in some works of Zen general history,most of which are general descriptions,and some general history have only one word to Weiyang Sect,which lacks more comprehensive and concentrated specialized research for the time being.And about Weishan Lingyou,related journal papers and theses are rare.Therefore,the author tries to make a detailed and comprehensive combing for Weishan Lingyou and its Zen thought.This study attempts to make a preliminary study from Lingyou’s life,main thoughts,Zen characteristics and the inheritance of the Dharma.In terms of research methods,we mainly use the philological research methods to sort out the works of Lingyou’s life from some original books,local chronicles and temple chronicles,and analyze the thoughts of Lingyou’s Zen method from four aspects,namely: the thought of "big round mirror wisdom ",the methodology of " being useful ",and the "epiphany gradually practicing ".Because Zen is more practical,this paper focuses on analyzing and exploring the way of its epiphany.This way is also a manifestation of Lingyou Zen style.There are differences in the records of Lingyou Zongfeng,and the comments of later generations are different.Therefore,the author only combs and summarizes Lingyou’s Zen.Results show that one of its characteristics is that Lingyou Weishan Zen advocates equal emphasis on physical use,can not be biased,more emphasis on the use of the body;the other is that the teaching method of Lingyou Weishan Zen is mainly characterized by "epiphany gradually practicing ",advocating the gradual practice of epiphany after epiphany.In addition,this study summarizes the inheritance and influence of the Weishan Dharma.There are many heirs of Lingyou Dharma,including Yangshan Hui silence,Xiang Yan Zhi leisure,Jingshan Hongzhi,Hui Mu run and others.With the help of new science and technology and the peaceful and stable domestic and foreign environment,it has been newly developed.
