Foreign students will make some mistakes unavoidably when they learn Chinese.There is a kind of special verbs,which are not many in number and the scope of research is limited.However,they have special uses in syntax and semantics.If the teacher does not attach importance to the special verbs,then many errors will be appeared by foreign students.This kind of special verbs are quasi-bivalent verbs.Quasi-bivalent verbs,like ordinary valence verbs,are based on valence theory.However,the special feature of quasi-bivalent verbs is that the two nominal components connected by verbs can not appear alone,and they need preposition to connect to them.Quasi-bivalent verbs include two categories,which are cooperative verbs and directed verbs.As the name implies,there are more than one participants in the two categories,but the coordination verb indicates that more than one individuals cooperate together in the exercise,which is symmetrical in meaning,and the verb indicates that one side of the action sends out targeted action to the other side.Quasi-bivalent verbs have semantic requirements and fixed syntactic forms.And different quasi-bivalent verbs will be used with several different prepositions,which leads to the flexible grammar of quasi-bivalent verbs.In addition,quasi-bivalent verbs are similar to ordinary verbs and the corresponding verbs in foreign students’ native language.If foreign students do not attach great importance to this kind of words,and confond this kind of special verbs with ordinary verbs and verbs in foreign students’ first language,which is not good for communication.This paper adopts many theories to expound the quasi-bivalent verbs.And then,systematically analyzing the typical errors of foreign students in the corpus,finding out the causes of errors,summing up the regulations of errors.Finally,I hope to provide specific teaching methods for the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language.
