In the system of modern Chinese verbs,collaborative verbs,which are distinctive from others in terms of meanings and syntax,are a special group with small quantity.When learning these verbs,foreign students often make mistakes.This paper elaborates collaborative verbs on the basis of valence theory and three-plane theory,and describes,corrects,analyzes and searches the source of the mistakes which foreign students make while learning them on the basis of language-contrast theory and bias theory,so that it can provide some suggest ions about collaborative verbs in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.This paper are in 4 chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,which states the general situation of the study of collaborative verbs from the aspects of the study of collabora tive verbs themselves and the study of collaborative verbs in teaching Chinese as a foreign language,points out the goal,the significance and the theoretical methods of this paper,and introduces the source of the linguistic data briefly.The second chapter is about the study of collaborative verbs themselves,including the definition,the range,the classification and the syntactic representation of collaborative verbs.This chapter reexplains “What are collaborative verbs?”,so that readers can be sure about the difference between collaborative verbs and other edge components.After exploring Chinese Verb Usage Dictionary and Modern Chinese Dictionary(edition 6),We have determined the range of collaborative verbs,which they are exactly and their number.We have classified them in multiple classes according to the meanings and the syntactic characteristics of them.In this chapter,We also analyze the syntactic representations of collaborative verbs in pragmatic terms.The third chapter is about the bias analysis of collaborative verbs.We analyzed the linguistic data that we had searched in the corpora in quantity and in quality respectively,then classified the biases which international students made as missing,adding by mistake,replacing by mistake,disorder and mixing.We put these 5 biases into different groups,analyzed them and summarized the rules of them.The last chapter is about the cause analysis of the biases and the teaching suggestions.According to the analysis of the bias theory and bi as categories,We think there are five factors which attribute to the biases as interlanguage interference,intralingual interference,the influence of the textbooks and the reference books,the influence of the leaning strategy(simplify,avoidance)and the influence of the universal factors of language(the universality of language,markness,natural degree).And We have offered exact explanations of each reason associating the linguistic data biased.At last,We provide some specific teaching suggestions in terms of valence,word frequency,meanings,syntax,generality and individuality.
