The nature of interpreting determines that interpretation could hardly be as fluent and accurate as written translation. For the general audience, their listening experience is largely influenced by the fluency of the interpreting output.Fluency is also one of the most important criteria in evaluating interpretation quality. Therefore,it is of great significance to evaluate and reflect upon interpreting fluency of each interpreting task. This report is based on a simulated consecutive interpreting practice of an "game localization webinar".It details pre-task preparation, interpreting process and post-task evaluation. After listening to his interpreting recording, the author found that there are many disfluency phenomena in the interpretation, which has become the biggest problem trigger in the quality of author’s interpretation.By using Gile’s Effort Model of Consecutive Interpreting, the author analyzes disfluencies of pauses, repetitions and self-repairs from four major causes, namely the inadequate listening ability, inadequate memory ability, inadequate note-taking ability and inadequate output ability. And the author puts forward the corresponding countermeasures, including improvement on pre-task preparation, targeted training etc.By reflecting upon this interpreting task, the author knows the causes of these disfluencies and the coping methods. This report could guide the author’s interpreting practice and further improvement, and hopefully provide reference for the interpreting studies and practices of other interpreters.
