As an indispensable part of middle school English teaching and learning,homework is an effective extension and complement of classroom teaching and learning.Homework is not only a kind of examination of teachers’ teaching result,but also an essential means for students’ comprehension,consolidation and application of the knowledge learned in class,which is of great importance in the improvement of classroom teaching effect.In 1983,MI(Multiple Intelligence)theory was put forward by Howard Gardner,an American distinguished psychologist.The theory underlines that students’ individual differences should be respected and students’ overall development should be concerned.Gardner believes that educators should apply Multiple Intelligence Theory to English teaching and develop a new classroom teaching model,which is the best combination of Multiple Intelligence Theory and English teaching.How to optimize the design of senior high school English homework based on the application of Multiple Intelligence Theory into senior high school English homework design and practice,so as to improve the quality of senior high school English teaching,which is the main content of this paper.Based on Multiple Intelligence Theory and the related literature of homework at home and abroad,the current situation of homework in senior high school has been researched in this thesis by scientific research methods.This study takes the students from four classes in Senior Two and some senior high school English teachers from Baima Middle School in Wuxi County of Chongqing as the research subjects.By using the research methods of questionnaire and interview,this study aims to seek out the main problems in senior high school English homework by implementing an investigation on the status quo of senior high school English homework.The results show that the amount,difficulty,type and content of homework need to be further improved in order to achieve the goal of promoting the development of students’ intelligence required by Multiple Intelligence Theory.On this basis,according to the existing problems in high school English homework,the author preliminarily discusses the reasons for the problems in high school English homework,and puts forward some principles of MIT-based high school English homework design. |
