It is set forth in English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022edition)that English is widely used in politics,economy,science and technology,culture and other activities around the world nowadays.It is an important tool for communication and cooperation among countries,and one of the important carriers for spreading advanced human civilization.It is an important subject in primary education and plays a vital part in the teaching of primary schools.The effective design of English homework plays a key role in achieving the primary school English teaching objectives,and it is a very important teaching link.In recent years,scholars at home and abroad have done a lot of researches on homework design,coupled with the implementation of the double reduction policy("Double reduction" means to effectively reduce the heavy homework burden and after-school training burden of students in the stage of compulsory education)and the release of the 2022 edition of new curriculum standards,all of which have sent a signal to Chinese educators that homework design needs to follow the new development trend of the times.However,during the study,the author found that the current situation of effective design of open English homework in primary schools is far from satisfactory.In order to achieve teaching goals,teachers need to further study the effective design of homework,so that it can serve the achievement of teaching goals better.By designing open,diversified and multi-level homework,students’ multiple intelligence can be stimulated,their learning enthusiasm can be improved,and the overall goal of English teaching can be achieved.In this study,based on Gardner’s Multiple Intelligence Theory,the author puts forward the effective design of open homework to improve students’ learning enthusiasm and activate students’ multiple intelligence.According to the characteristics of students,teachers can design diversified and personalized homework,adapt to local conditions and teach students in accordance with their aptitude.Although there are many studies at home and abroad related to homework design,there are few studies on effective design of open homework in primary school English.Therefore based on the theory of multiple intelligence,this study proposes to solve the following two problems:(1)Can open homework in primary schools stimulate students’ multiple intelligence?(2)How to design effective open homework for primary schools?The object of this study is the fifth grade students in a primary school in Urumqi.By designing questionnaires,interviews,teaching experiments and other ways,the author collects data,sorts out data,analyzes data,and draws a conclusion.By analyzing the data in Excel form,comparing the results before and after the test,the classroom performance and the changes of students’ learning state between the common teaching class and the experimental class,the author sums up the principles and strategies that the open homework design should follow,and puts forward corresponding teaching suggestions.The conclusion of this study is that open type homework in primary schools can stimulate students’ multiple intelligence;The author also puts forward some suggestions on how to design effective open-type primary school English homework.The design of open English homework in primary schools should consider many factors.First of all,Open English homework is not simply open in the homework form,content,as well as the time and places,but should not be limited to the contents of textbooks,and the homework content should be suitable for students’ cognitive ability and should be selected on the basis of not abandoning new knowledge.Teachers should continue to explore the combination of modern multimedia technology in the form of homework,so that students can choose modern media to complete homework content.As for the quantity of homework,teachers can assign homework every other day,and pay attention to the fact that not only handwritten homework should be assigned,but it should be distributed evenly,so that students can have different homework experiences and comprehensively cultivate students’ abilities in listening,reading and writing.From this study,homework design should be based on textbooks and reality,comprehensively cultivate students’ language ability,cultural awareness,thinking quality and learning ability,and truly achieve the mutual penetration,integration,interaction and coordinated development of the four aspects of the requirements of core literacy. |
