Investigation Of The Present Situation Of English Homework In Senior Middle School

As an important aspect of English teaching,English homework in high school is the expanding of classroom teaching and an important integral part of teaching activity.It is also an important way to help teachers to understand the implementation of teaching objectives;students’ mastery and utilization situation of the knowledge they have learnt.It plays a role in reviewing,consolidating,diagnosis and correcting of students’ learning.It offers a certain feedback and basis for teachers to master,reflect and improve their teaching effects at the same time.But in reality,completing homework appeared to be a challenge to some students.Some students can’t turn in their English homework on time in the daily teaching process.There are a lot of problems which are ignored by most teachers and students in today’s homework.This paper aimed at discovering the problems by an investigation carried out in a high school in Yiling District in Yichang to attract teachers’ attention to the problems existing in English homework in high school and to improve this situation.The purpose of this research is to make sure that English homework in high school could become the good supplement to the classroom teaching and could improve students’ scores by exerting the greatest function of homework.The author designed an investigation of the situation of English homework in today’s high school.Questionnaires and interviews were used to collect data.And then the investigation was carried out among some students who are in Grade One and all the English teachers in this school.The author used to learn the real situation.After that the author collected and analyzed all the related data carefully by Excel.It was found that there are a lot of problems existing in English homework.The author summarized the problems which are found during the investigation,and then discuss the solutions to these problems.Undoubtedly,there remain more problems unsettled or questions unanswered due to the limit to the scope of this investigation and the extent of the author’s current knowledge and ability.This surely leaves more room for improvement and further research.
