As an essential way for people to understand the most cutting-edge science and technology at home and abroad,popular science texts play an important role as a medium in the international exchange and dissemination of scientific and technological information.The article is a translation practice report,taken from the chapters of Artificial Intelligence in Daily Life about Artificial Intelligence education.As a popular science book,it intends to introduce the basic concept of Artificial Intelligence,and help people understand the relationship between AI and our daily life,and in all aspects of the application.In translation,the author finds that the Skopos Theory of the German Functionalist Theory has a great guiding significance for this translation.The Skopos Theory has three main rules:Skopos Rule,Coherence Rule and Fidelity Rule,among which the Skopos Rule is the top-ranking rule.Under the guidance of Skopos Theory,different translation skills can be chosen according to different translation purposes,so as to reconstruct the original information as much as possible and conform to the target language.In the case study,combining with the grammatical features of the text,the author analyzes the methods of dealing with technical terms,long and complex sentences and sentences of passive voice,such as: paraphrasing,conversion,division and so on.In the translation practice,the author has understood the different translation skills should be adopted under the different purposes,and strengthened the practical translation ability.Meanwhile,the paper aims to provide some valuable references for translators engaged in the translation of popular science texts.
