Riverside scene at the qingming festival is a masterpiece by zhang zeduan,a famous painter in the northern song dynasty, depicting the social landscape of bianliang, the capital city during the period. With this theme, composer liu weiguang used the tone style of jiang kui’s duqu in the song dynasty to create a duet named "river scene at qingming festival" by kongghou and xiao, which explained with music the abundant spring light in bianliang countryside, the bustling bianliang wharf and the bustling streets, and was later adapted into a duet of three guzheng by Lin ling. After fully understanding the profound connotation of the guzheng trio "riverside scene at qingming festival",this paper makes an in-depth analysis of the music from the aspects of structure layout, tone application and harmony language,so as to provide enlightenment and reference for the players,so that they can have a deeper understanding of the emotions and essence expressed in traditional Chinese music works.
