A Report On The C-E Translation Of Abstracts Of Electrical Engineering Theses Based On The Skopos Theory

Electrical engineering is a major of modern science and technology.With the rapid development of science and technology,electrical engineering covers almost all engineering activities related to electronics and photons in modern society.Academic exchanges can promote technological progress and lead the development of disciplines,and academic theses are an important carrier and channel for academic exchanges.As an important part of academic theses,English abstracts can not only clearly summarize the main content of the thesis,but also help reviewers to review theses and provide convenience for literature retrieval.Meanwhile,excellent abstracts can also play an important role in international knowledge dissemination and academic communication and cooperation.Taking the English abstract translation of electrical engineering theses as the research object,this report focuses on how to improve the translation quality of English abstracts in electrical engineering theses under the guidance of Skopos theory.This report analyzes the problems of Chinese and English abstracts in electrical engineering theses,and how to choose appropriate translation strategies and methods under the guidance of Skopos Theory to guide translation practice and improve the quality of English s.The Skopos rule is primary,emphasizing that the most important purpose of English is to conduct academic communication,and Skopos rule can ensure the accuracy and professionalism of vocabulary expression,which is the basis of academic communication;coherence rule emphasizes the readability of the translated text,which is able to accurately and objectively express the report’s research results at the grammatical level and conform to the language habits of the target readers.The fidelity rule emphasizes that the translation must be subject,translating into passive voice,imperative sentences or "there+be" sentence pattern,as well as linear translation and division translation;the textual equivalence is achieved through three cohesive methods of ellipsis,conjunction and substitution,and two coherent methods of consistency and structural adjustment;the stylistic equivalence level includes four characteristics:accuracy,objectivity,logic and terminology usage.Under the guidance of the functional equivalence theory,this report uses examples to analyze and study the translation of road and bridge construction scheme,and demonstrates the feasibility of the functional equivalence theory to guide the English translation of construction schemes,aiming to provide some practical guidance in theories and methods for English translation study of the construction schemes texts in road and bridge,so as to provide reference for the further translation research of this type of construction text in the future.
