The translation report is based on the project of “Glass Mold Engineering and Repair”,taking Glass Containers: New Products Design and Mold Engineering and Repair Manual as the text.The source text belongs to scientific and technical text with detailed content and objective language.Therefore,the translation should not only be faithful and accurate,standardized and professional,but also fluent and easy to be understood.Guided by the German functionalist translation theory,the author follows the three principles of Skopos theory,selects typical examples,analyzes from lexical and syntactic level,and summarizes translation strategies and translation skills.Firstly,the author sums up and analyzes from four aspects: technical terms,specialization of common words,abbreviations and nominalization structure.Dealing with words of the above lexical features,the author compares the differences in word usage between Chinese and English,reads professional texts and consults professionals to ensure the rigor and accuracy of the translation.In terms of the passive structure and complex sentences in the source text,the author applies translation skills such as voice conversion,restructuring and division to ensure the coherence and readability of the translated text.Through the translation practice,the author keeps improving the translation ability and hopes to provide reference for the translation of similar texts.
