| In order to understand the features of institutional discourses in the Iraq conflict and the effectiveness of corpus linguistics in the study of war discourse, the translator selected Corpus-Assisted Discourse Studies on the Iraq Conflict: Wording the War(Chapter 8)as the ST of this translation project.Wording the War is an edited volume of academic papers,in which papers studying the institutional discourse in the Iraq War based on a corpus named Cor Dis are presented. The significance of this project includes improving the translator’s ability and contributing to China’s war discourse research by supplementing material of reference value. The translation of prepositions and prepositional phrases was studied in this report under the guidance of Peter Newmark’s communicative translation theory. The author of this report firstly compared English and Chinese prepositions in detail and then illustrated the guiding significance of communicative translation theory over the translation of prepositions and prepositional phrases. At the same time, the author also pointed out the achievements and shortcomings in translation practice in order to provide references for the translation practice of other academic texts. |
