| School-based curriculum development is both a need of the times and an important part of the implementation of curriculum reform.Through the development of school-based curriculum,students can develop their core literacy,highlight their personality development,and develop their ability to learn and adapt to lifelong development.This study used two questionnaires and an interview as the research tools,and the English teachers as well as students of Rong’an Senior School in Guangxi as the research subjects.The questionnaire about the Current Situation of English School-based Curriculum Development in Rong’an Senior School in Guangxi(Teachers’ Questionnaire)is made up on the basis of Professor Fu Jianming(2003)The Questionnaire on Current Situation of School-based Curriculum Development.The dimension of the questionnaire contains six aspects: compilation of English school-based textbook,teachers’ evaluation on the content and organization of the teaching materials,teachers’ understanding of school-based curriculum development;teachers’ concern for school-based curriculum development;teachers’ adaptation to schoolbased curriculum and teachers’ choice of teaching methods.Questionnaire on Students’ Satisfaction with English School-based Curriculum Questionnaire in Rong’an Senior School in Guangxi(Students’ Questionnaire)focuses on investigating students’ satisfaction with the English School-based Curriculum.This study concentrates on three questions:(1)What is the overall situation of English school-based curriculum development?(2)How satisfied are students with English school-based curriculum development?(3)What are the problems in the development of English school-based curriculum? The findings of the study showed that English school-based curriculum development was gradually improved and students were satisfied with the English school-based curriculum development.Interviews with teachers revealed the following problems: the design of school-based curriculum materials is not scientific enough;the quality of school-based curriculum developed by teachers varies;the College Entrance Examination System and the National Curriculum limit the development of school-based curriculum;there is a lack of school-based curriculum resources;and the evaluation mechanism of school-based curriculum development is single and incomplete.Based on the findings,the author proposes five actionable countermeasures from the perspectives of teachers and schools: improving teachers’ awareness of developing schoolbased curriculum;optimizing the content of English school-based materials;finding more effective learning resources;handling the relationship between school-based curriculum and national curriculum and establishing a developmental evaluation system. |
