| Since the revision of National English Curriculum Standards of Senior High School, core competencies have been the hot issue concerned by educators, and they all agree that English subject core competencies have great importance for junior high school English teaching.Being one of the basic skills of English, reading has always been a difficult task in English teaching, for it occupies a lot of time in junior high school English learning, and also weighs a lot in the junior high school examination. However, most of the researches on English reading focuses on teaching design, and the study of classroom evaluation is still not enough. It is true that teachers have realized that classroom evaluation is an important part of reading teaching, but they do not understand its concepts and strategies, and there are still many problems in the process of implementation. The current situation of reading classroom evaluation being like this, the author conducted an empirical study on classroom evaluation based on the requirements of English subject core competencies to explore its influence on reading teaching on students’ reading attitude and reading performance. This research investigated the following two questions:1.What are the effects of reading classroom evaluation based on English subject core competencies on students’ reading attitudes in junior high school ?2.What are the effects of reading classroom evaluation based on English subject core competencies on students’ reading performance in junior high school ?The researcher selected two parallel classes,36 students in each and 72 students all together in a junior high school in Shenyang. The reading classroom evaluation method based on the English subject core competencies was conducted in the experimental class. The whole experiment lasted for three months to complete research procedures including classroom observation,questionnaires,pre-test and post-test.The research shows that reading classroom evaluation based on English subject core competencies has greatly improved students’ confidence in reading, helped them to form good reading habits, and finally promoted the improvement of students’ reading scores. But as for the performance in reading classes, students focus too much on linguistic ability and ignore other core competencies, the evaluation feedback is not immediate and clear enough, and the students can not fully participate in the classroom evaluation. |
