| Long English sentences have always been a great challenge to interpreters in EnglishChinese consecutive interpreting.Given that,in the teaching of interpretation,the quality of interpretations of long English sentences stands as an important measure of students’ interpreting ability.Based on an empirical research,this thesis explores the impact of three types of long English sentences on the quality of interpretation from three dimensions.The author summarizes three types of representative long sentences that affect the quality of interpreting according to the English syntactic structure,and discusses them separately according to three major evaluation criteria,namely,accuracy,fluency and information completeness.With the guidance of Gile’s effort model,this paper proposes targeted strategies. |
