A Report On The Translation Of Translation Goes To The Movies(Chapter 5)

This paper is a practice report on the translation from English into Chinese.The project is based on chapter 5 of Translation goes to the Movies written by Irish translation theorist,Michael Cronin.It is an academic work of great value.Cronin makes a detailed discussion and analysis in terms of translator?s task,subtitle translation,language diversity,translation effects and changes,human cloning and the retreat from translation etc.,according to the "Star Wars" trilogies.Based on the characteristics of academic works,this report will introduce the latest situation of academic translation research,its significance and some principles to be followed in academic translation.It can be divided into five parts.The first part introduces the background of the original text as well as the types and features of the text.The second part is literature review,which focuses on the current situation,significance and principles of academic translation.The third part describes the specific process,including the preparation,translation process and proofreading.The fourth part is the core and key part of the whole report.It mainly states the translation difficulties and problems that the author encountered with regard to vocabulary,sentence and passage and how these problems are solved by means of semantic translation and communicative translation strategies.The author flexibly uses various methods such as transliteration,conversion,extension,sequencing and division.After the completion of translation,the author gained a lot of inspiration and valuable experience from it.If you really want to become a qualified translator and achieve the final goal of translation with high quality,you need to improve various abilities,including the bilingual control capability as well as relevant cultural and knowledge in the specialized domain.
