A Report On E-C Translation Of "A Comprehensive Review Of The Key Technologies For Pure Electric Vehicles"

In recent years,China’s automobile industry has developed rapidly,but at the same time it has brought about a series of environmental problems.Therefore,it is of great significance to develop electric vehicle technology to promote the sustainable development of automobile industry.With the strong support of national policies,the research fruits about the technology of pure electric vehicles are constantly emerging.The source text of this translation report is taken from a paper published in Energy about research in electric vehicle technology,entitled “A Comprehensive Review of the Key Technologies for Pure Electric Vehicles.”This translation practice report is divided into four chapters.The first chapter introduces the content of the source text and the significance of text selection.The second chapter covers the preparation before the translation,understanding and expression of the translation,and proofreading after the translation.Before the translation,the author pays more attention to studying translation theories and consulting parallel texts.The author elaborates on translation methods and techniques in the process of translation from two aspects,namely,understanding and expression.After the translation,the author describes the process of revising the translated text,and guarantees translation quality through self-proofreading and professional proofreading.The third chapter analyzes the obstacles encountered in the process of translation from the perspectives of vocabulary,syntax and discourse.At the lexical level,the author adopts the method of literal translation for technical terms.For polysemous and metaphorical words,the author utilizes the method of free translation.At the syntactic level,the author takes advantage of the techniques of translating long and difficult sentences,such as addition,omission,division,combination and conversion.At the textual level,the author puts emphasis on the lexical cohesion and the coherence among paragraphs.The fourth chapter summarizes translation methods and techniques and discusses translation problems and corresponding solutions in this report.Through this translation practice,the author has a deeper understanding of the features of technical texts and realizes that achieving functional equivalence between the two languages should be paid more attention to when it comes to the translation of such texts.The author hopes this translation report will enable domestic researchers in electric vehicle technology to learn about foreign research fruits,and helps promote the rapid development of new energy vehicles in China to some extent.
