A Report On E-C Translation Of Interviews In Botswana Women Write

In recent years,although there is closer relationship between China and Botswana,China’s research on Botswana is still scarce.As a practical report on the translation of interviews on Botswana Women Write,its aim is to enable Chinese readers to get further understanding of African culture.The report focuses on how to deal with Tswana,people’s names,tribal names,complex sentences and translation discourse properly.This translation report includes four interviews which are from the anthology of Botswana Women Write.It’s all first-hand material about Botswana’s culture,history and politics.The translation report also involves text characteristics concerning colloquial expressions,context and translation problems in details.There are also many Tswana words.The translator makes full use of various translation strategies in the whole translation practice such as splitting long sentences,word conversion,amplification and so on.This translation practice teaches the author that a good translator does not only need to know background culture but also need to promote her translation ability.Besides,it is hoped that the translation report can provide certain reference value and make some contribution to cultural exchange between Botswana and China.
