This report is based upon the author’s simulated consecutive interpreting of the CCTV documentary Aerial China: Shanxi Province. The documentary mainly involves the natural and cultural environment,as well as the social development of Shanxi Province.Guided by the Interpretive Theory, the author tries to convey the meaning of the source text rather than only be limited to the form of it.This report is divided into five parts: The first chapter is task description. It deals with the background information of this interpretation, main content and linguistic features of the source text. The second chapter involves process description. It mainly introduces the preparation work before interpreting, the description of the interpreting process and the reflection on the whole interpretation. The third chapter, concerning the theory applied in this interpretation, mainly introduces the three phases of the Interpretive Theory, namely comprehension, deverbalization and reformulation, and their applications in this interpreting practice. The fourth chapter is case analysis. In this part, the author of this report selects some typical examples to illustrate how she completes this interpretation smoothly by adopting appropriate interpreting strategies from the comprehension and reformulation of culture-loaded words, complex sentences and discourse, and the adaptation in four-character phrases and figures of speech. The fifth chapter is conclusion. The author makes a summary of the achievements as well as challenges and mistakes of this interpretation.
