A Simulated Chinese-english Consecutive Interpreting Practice Report On The Method Of Run-on Sentences Under The Guidance Of Interpretive Theory

Chinese tea culture has a long history and enjoys a good reputation around the world.The spread of Chinese tea culture has a positive effect on enhancing national pride and expanding international influence of Chinese culture.Documentary is the main carrier of cultural transmission and excellent documentary translation is icing on the cake which brings Chinese culture to the world.This practical report takes JSTV's documentary Tea in China as an example to discuss the translation skills of the run-on sentences.This documentary shows the Chinese tea culture and its far-reaching influence on countries along the “Belt and Road”.The interpreting practice of this documentary not only promotes Chinese culture and enhances cultural confidence of the Chinese people in the new era,but also cultivates cross-cultural dialogue and civilized mutual understanding between countries along the “Belt and Road” and boosts communication among the people.Under the guidance of the interpretive theory,this paper discusses the problems of the run-on sentences in the interpreting process,including the lack of explicit connection,language disorder,information redundancy and semantic absence based on the practice of consecutive Chinese-English interpretation of the documentary Tea in China.This interpreting practice shows that the problem of lacking explicit connection can be solved by adding conjunctions,prepositions and connectives;Language disorder can be worked out through reorganization and reverse translation;Information redundancy can be settled by omission and refinement;Semantic absence can be solved through adding semantic components and elucidation.It is hoped that the study on the interpreting strategy of run-on sentences under the guidance of the interpretive theory could provide as a reference for future interpreting practice.
