A Report On The Chinese-English Simulated Consecutive Interpreting Of The Documentary Aerial ChinaⅡ

With the advent of globalization,countries pay more and more attention to the output of their cultural image,and cultural documentary has become a good carrier of exporting Chinese culture to the outside world because it can show the true China from different perspectives.Aerial China is a documentary that overlooks different places of China from the perspective of aerial photography,showing nature,geography,culture,history and economic changes of China.It has been broadcasted for three seasons.The spread of this documentary is of great importance to the export of Chinese culture,and can help international friends understand the local characteristics of different places in China.The interpreter chooses the third episode Inner Mongolia and the fourth episode Gansu of Aerial ChinaⅡ as the corpus of simulated consecutive interpreting.When fully learning various theories and strategies of interpretation,analyzing documentary text characteristics,reading a large number of parallel texts and building up a glossary,the interpreter began the simulated consecutive interpreting practice,recorded video and audio throughout the process.After the practice,the audio was transcribed into text and studied repeatedly.Finally the interpreter made the self-assessment,post-interpreting reflection and question collection.In the process of interpreting,the interpreter encountered such problems as culture-loaded words,high-density information and differences between Chinese and English.Under the guidance of the theories and strategies learned before interpretation,the interpreter overcame these difficulties one by one.For culture loaded words,the interpreter uses the strategies of explanation and cultural substitution to explain them to foreign audiences,making it easier for them to understand the meaning of the source language.When dealing with high-density information,the interpreter uses the strategies of omission and integration to make the production concise and clear.In the face of the differences between Chinese and English,the interpreter adopts the strategy of explicitation of conjunctions of logic and sentence reconstruction to make the production have coherent logic and complete structure,which is more in line with the target language expression habits.Finally,this interpretation report summarizes the findings,limitations and reflections of this practice.It is hoped that this practice can provide reference for interpreting learners.
