| This report is based on an English-Chinese simulated interpretation of a lecture entitled“WTO Reform”.This lecture is an online English lecture, which mainly deals with the reasons for the development and WTO reform.Combining with specific examples, the author analyzes the effort distribution in the process of simulated interpretation and reflects on it after interpretation. It is found that the unbalanced effort will affect the interpretation effect, resulting in unsmooth interpretation and incomplete source language information.Reasonable effort distribution is beneficial for interpreters to better interpret. This report consists of four chapters. The first chapter is task description, which briefly introduces the background of this interpretation and the main content of the source text. The second chapter involves process description. It describes the pre-interpreting preparations.During interpreting, the author coordinates her efforts by virtue of relevant interpreting strategies. The two listeners’ comments and feedback on the simulated interpretation are also given in this chapter. The third chapter is case analysis. The author sets out Daniel Gile’s Effort Model’s main content, analyzes the reasons and effects of the adopted coping strategies: prediction,note-taking,syntactic linearity, and paraphrase. She also reflects on her interpretation and points out that self-correction and incomplete information would affect the interpretation’s fluency and accuracy respectively. The fourth chapter is conclusion. The author thinks that adequate pre-interpreting preparations, appropriate interpreting strategies, and reflection after interpretation will help the interpreter better complete the interpreting practice. |
