At present, with the increasingly in-depth communication and collaboration worldwide,Consecutive Interpreting(CI),as one of the interpreting methods,is being commonly-used in a wide variety of international conferences and crucial events.Even though the difficulty of CI is not as much as Simultaneous Interpreting(SI),there are still plenty of translation errors, including omission, distortion, incoherent expression during the process of CI both for novice and experienced interpreters.Daniel Gile,French professor and experienced interpreter, puts forward the Effort Model for CI,dividing it into two parts—Comprehension stage and Production stage. He figures out that in order to finish the task of CI completely and smoothly, interpreters must allocate their limited mental energy into different stages wisely and properly.Besides, the most crucial rule is that interpreters' mental energy must be sufficient and available for the requirement of CI task.Only in this way can the success of CI be guaranteed.Guided by the Effort Model, this thesis presents interpreting mistakes based on cases of a personal CI practice. It analyzes reasons from the perspective of the Effort Model, and accordingly gives methods to improve the interpreting skills for future practice.
