A Report On Mock Interpreting Of The Lecture On Climate Change

This report is written based on the mock of Climate Change made by Ding Zhongli.The 50-minute lecture discusses causes and impacts of climate change,the measurement ways of greenhouse gases and analysis on the global warming.For this interpreting,unnecessary information redundancy makes negative impact on the interpreting speed and quality.Therefore,in this report,the author analyzes causes for the information redundancy and adopts the coping strategies.After referring to related literatures,articles,the author finds out three main reasons:unnecessary fillers,semantic repetition and structural redundancy.In order to interpreting clearly and accurately,the author adopts three interpreting strategies to cope with the information redundancy,under the guidance of the Effort Model.During the interpreting,interpreters need to properly allocate their energy on the comprehension,memory and note-taking processes in order to output the target language in short time.The author adopts three interpreting strategies: omission,compression and restructuring in this interpreting practice.At last,the author summarizes the interpreting practice and makes the conclusion: in order to cope with information redundancy,interpreters need master coping strategies of omission,compression and restructuring.By doing so,the information can be passed to the audience clearly and accurately.The author hopes that these tactics can help other interpreters to deal with similar conditions.
