In recent years, with the rapid development of integrated circuit(IC),the electronic information industry with IC as the core has developed into the largest industry.Design for manufacturability(DFM)can improve chip yield and reduce chip manufacturing cost, which is of great significance to the development of IC.At present,IC is closely related to our life. For example, the manufacture of electrical appliances such as air-conditioners,televisions,refrigerators,and mobile phones is inseparable from IC.Therefore,IC is getting more and more attention from academic world and industrial world, and the translation of English for IC has become more and more important. The source text of this paper is from the first chapter and fourth chapter of Semiconductors: Integrated Circuit Design for Manufacturability, which is the translation task the translator received during the internship. This translation practice report mainly introduces the translation task, the translation process, theoretical framework, case analysis and reflection of this translation practice. The introduction of the project mainly elaborates the background, requirements and significance of the translation task. The translation process mainly introduces the preparation before translation, the procedure of translation, and the review after translation.Theoretical framework mainly introduces Skopos Theory, three rules of Skopos Theory and the guiding significance of Skopos Theory for this translation.Case analysis is the key chapter of this translation practice report, which mainly analyzes the translation of some representative examples in the source text.Semiconductor translation belongs to science and technology translation. This translation practice report, based on the characteristics of English for science and technology(EST),intends to explore the translation methods and strategies of scientific and technological texts from three aspects: the vocabulary, the sentence and the discourse under the guidance of Skopos Theory. At the lexical level,it mainly discusses the translation of initialisms, specialization of common words, translation of compound words, and part of speech conversion, including conversion from adjectives to verbs, conversion from nouns to verbs, conversion from adjectives to adverbs, and conversion from nouns to adjectives;at the syntactic level,it mainly discusses the translation of passive sentences, long and difficult sentences,Parentheses and Post-attributes;at the textual level,it mainly discusses the strengthening of logical coherence and the translation of tables. The conclusion mainly introduces the experience gained from the report and limitations of the translation practice,as well as some suggestions for semiconductor translation study. On the one hand, this translation practice can enhance the translator’s understanding of new technologies about integrated circuit, provide reference for domestic professionals engaged in IC industry, and promote the development of the semiconductor industry. On the other hand, through this translation, the translator has a further understanding of the Skopos Theory and characteristics of EST.In the following translation practice, the translator can choose corresponding translation methods more flexibly under the guidance of Skopos Theory and improve the translation level, providing reference for other translators and making a contribution to the study of semiconductor English translation.
