| This is an English-Chinese translation report.The source text comes from the Second Chapter of Start Small,Stay Small: A Developer’ s Guide to Launching a Startup.The book is a step-by-step guide for developers building and launching a successful startup with no external funding.As a famous serial entrepreneur,the author Rob Walling has helped tens of thousands of startup founders.Reader-oriented,the translation is designed to help domestic boostrappers learn from their foreign counterparts.Four translation methods including selected translation,edited translation,translation plus explanation and translation plus rewriting are applied under the guideline of Translation Variation theory so as to solve the contradiction between the value of the original work and its use value for target readers.This report is made up of five chapters: Chapter 1 is the introduction;Chapter 2,3 and 4 constitute the body with the fourth chapter being the the major part;Chapter 5serves as the conclusion.Specifically,Chapter 1 introduces the background as well as the major contents and significance of the translation project;Chapter 2 describes the the three stages of translation process;Chapter 3 expounds Huang Zhonglian’s theory of Variation Translation;Chapter 4 provides detailed analysis of typical examples.The last Chapter summarizes the problems and experiences in this translation practice.Via this report,the author hopes to offer useful experiences to translators engaged in similar translation materials. |
