A Report On The Translation Of Engineering Work Instruction From The Perspective Of Translation Variation Theory

This paper is a translation practice report,which mainly studies the translation methods and skills of Engineering Work Instruction.As this type of text lays more emphasis on the processing principles and operating processes so as to better guide the practice,it is decided that the needs of the target readers should be taken as the primary task in the translation of this type of text,emphasizing operability and practicality.Through case analysis,the author believes that “adaptation” concept in the Translation Variation Theory,which focuses more on the reader's acceptance and the value of the original text,especially its relevant translation methods such as amplification,deletion and combination,can better solve the problem from cultural differences that exist in the translation process,and also can embody the practicality of the original text well.And the target text translated this way shall reflect the practicality of the original text better and more conform to the reading habits of the target readers,which is in line with the translation requirements of Work Instruction.The author takes Work Instruction of the preliminary processing of steel billets translated by her during her internship in the translation company as the research object.Guided by the Translation Variation Theory,the author tries to find the best translation to meet the needs of the target readers,maximizing the value of the original text,hoping that this report can provide helps and implications for the translation of Work Instruction in the future.
