With the continuous further development of new curriculum reform in China,English classes in primary school are receiving more and more attention.Due to the development of information technology,teaching methods are becoming informatized and moder."English Curriculum Standards(2017)" established by Ministry of Education propose that students can form a preliminary comprehensive language ability through English learning.In order to improve teaching efficiency,various teaching methods and teaching models are constantly being applied.In recent years,micro-lecture as a new kind of teaching resource,which is based on various modern information technology.Because they are simple but efficient,Micro-lecture develops rapidly and spread widely in the world,which has attracted the attention of many scholars and experts.The combination of micro-lecture and teaching in English has become a research hot topic.The teaching time of micro-lecture is short,the content is concise,which can exercise the students’ autonomous learning ability.Based on the theory of constructivism and input hypothesis,the author designs different micro-lecture to explore whether micro-lecture can play a role in English class.This research mainly uses classroom observation,questionnaire survey,students’interview and test to conduct investigation.The author did a one-term-long teaching experiment on students in Classes 6 and 8,Grade 6 in Y Primary School in Wuhan.The author use a questionnaire survey on the experimental class,observe and record the classroom data of the two classes to have a detailed understanding of the student performance and teaching effects after the application of the micro-lecture.By comparing the scores of pre-test and post-test in the control class and the experimental class,the research explores whether the micro-lecture can improve students’ English performance.The experiment results show that the application of micro-lecture in class teaching can stimulate students’ interest in learning,improve their participation in the classroom,cultivate students’ autonomous learning ability,build students’ English self-confidence,and improve students’ achievement in English.Finally,based on the experience of this practical research,the author puts forward some advice on the application of micro-lecture in English teaching:(1)Teachers need to prepare lessons carefully to improve the fit between micro-lecture and teaching in classrooms;(2)Teachers should pay more attention to the gap in students’ learning ability;(3)Teachers can combine online learning and teaching in classrooms to apply micro-lecture;(4)Teachers and schools need to pay attention to cultivating teachers’capabilities;(5)Schools and teachers need to establish and improve teaching resources and strengthen resource sharing.It is hoped that this research can contribute to the development of micro-lecture and provide some reference for English teaching in primary school.
