| Chinese characters are unique due to the nature of their ideographic characters and the profound cultural heritage behind them,and they are very different from the phonetic characters used in most countries.By summarizing the surveys conducted by different scholars over the years,we have found that more and more Chinese learners believe that learning Chinese characters is one of the biggest difficulties they encounter during the entire Chinese learning process.Therefore,it is particularly important for learners to learn Chinese characters at the introductory stage.By consulting related literature,we found that the number of zero-based Chinese character teaching researches based on adults is relatively scarce,and the research on the Belarus is even rarer.However,the teaching of Chinese in Belarus has a history of more than ten years,and the scale of development is constantly expanding.The general public is very interested in Chinese language and Chinese culture.Based on this,we takes four representative Confucius Institutes in the capital Minsk as the research object,investigate the whole zero-based teaching process of Chinese characters for adults in Belarus through literature collection and comparison,questionnaire surveys,communication and interview,corpus collection and classification.This article summarizes the problems that arise from the aspect of schools,teachers and students,analyzes the reasons,and tries to give the corresponding suitable teaching suggestions based on the teachers’ actual Chinese teaching experience.This will provide a certain reference for the teaching of Chinese characters for Chinese teachers in Belarus and contribute to the further and enrichment of research about Chinese characters teaching for foreigners.This article mainly includes the following parts:The first chapter is Introduction.This chapter mainly explains the reasons for choosing the theme,the background of the topic,the research content and methods,the purpose and significance of research,and the research summary of this article.The content of the second chapter is discovering and generalizing different problems in the zero-based teaching of Chinese characters for adults in Belarus based on the actual teaching observation and understanding of the author and some teachers,and the collecting of the students’ works.The third chapter is the questionnaire analysis of the research on the zero-based teaching of Chinese characters for adults in Belarus,including the teacher’s version and the student’s version.Republican Confucius Institute of the Belarusian State University,Confucius Institute on Science and Technology at the Belarusian National Technical University,Confucius Institute at Minsk State Linguistic University and Confucius Institute at Belarusian State University of Physical Culture are the subjects of the survey.Combining the data analysis results of the questionnaire to further verify and supplement the problems in the zero-based teaching of Chinese characters for adults in Belarus,and to lay the foundation for finding the causes of the problems and making corresponding suggestions in the next two chapters.The aspect of school mainly focuses on the teaching syllabus,curriculum,teaching auxiliary resources;the aspect of teacher is mainly manifested in the attention,sequence and mode of Chinese character teaching;the aspect of student is reflected in the two parts of Chinese character recognition and writing,including the recognition and reading of single or a group of Chinese characters,words and pieces of texts without pinyin and the writing of strokes,strokes’ relationships and orders,parts,whole characters,and chapters.The content of the forth chapter is mainly to analyze the causes of problems in the zero-based teaching of Chinese characters for adults in Belarus based on the results of the investigation and summary in the previous chapter from the formulation and trial of syllabus documents,the update of the curriculum system,and the development of localized teaching materials from the school;teaching experience,training,Chinese character teaching links and methods of teaching and practice from the teachers;personal identity and learning goals,personality characteristics,learning styles and feedback of the students;comparison of the Chinese and Russian characters of the language;Belarusian culture and educational traditions perspectives.The main content of the fifth chapter is to give suitable and appropriate teaching suggestions based on the problems in the zero-based teaching of Chinese characters for adults in Belarus combining with the actual teaching experience of teachers from the aspects of Chinese character courses,selection of teaching content and methods,in and out of class practice methods,students’ learning motivation,students’ awareness of learning Chinese characters,etc.At the end of the article,the concluding part summarizes the results of this article’s investigation and research,and analyzes the research innovations and shortcomings of this article,so as to provide directions for improvement and promotion for future study and research. |
