| Since Chinese was officially introduced into the national education system of Belarus in 1998,the teaching of Chinese has been gradually popularized and has become an important part of foreign-language education in Belarus.As of June 2019,there are 5 Confucius Institutes and 8 Confucius Classrooms in Belarus,located in Minsk,Gomel,Brest,Grodno,Mogilev,and Vitebsk.However,at present,the teaching of Chinese in Belarus has still been encountered soome challenges and problems.Through the questionnaire,classroom observation,and interview survey,this thesis makes a systematic investigation and analysis of Chinese teaching in 4Confucius institutes in Belarus,with specific focuses on students,teachers,teaching materials,teaching methods,curriculum and examining forms.The purpose is to give a full understanding of Chinese teaching in Confucius institutes in Belarus.There are three main findings in this paper.First of all,students in Belarus have insufficient motivation and emphasis on Chinese,and they also have less time for extracurricular learning.Secondly,as for the faculty,the problems are the shortage of experience of Chinese volunteers,the high turnover of teaching staff,and the lack of public and local teachers.Besides,some teachers lack necessary teaching methods,resulting in extra random in classrooms.Finally,in terms of teaching materials,the problems lie in the few choices to choose,relatively outdated content and poor cohesion between teaching materials.Based on the above,four suggestions are put forward as follows.First of all,learners should take a positive attitude towards Chinese learning and take part in more Chinese cultural activities,enhancing their interest in learning Chinese.The second suggestion is to stabilize the team of Chinese teachers,develop their teaching abilities and train more local Chinese teachers.In addition,there should be more textbooks suitable for students in Belarus,with electronic versions provided.Finally,the Chinese curriculum in Belarus should be reformed,with lesson types varied,and the teaching progress adjusted flexibly according to the actual situation. |
