Research On Lao She’s Writing Of Children

As a historical and cultural concept constructed in the process of modernization,"children" has rich and unique connotations.In the context of modern Chinese literature,the discovery of children was accompanied by the"liberation of man" during the May Fourth Movement.Therefore,"children" was endowed with the deep connotations of enlightenment education and national imagination.Throughout Lao She’s writing career,it is not difficult to find that the writer has never been separated from the emphasis on children.Whether it is the image of children in adult works or the expression of childlike innocence in children’s literature,Lao She,as a writer and educator,demonstrates his thoughts on the relationship between children,the times and society,his expectation and imagination for the future of the nation-state,and his humanitarian spirit of respecting and loving the lives of children.This article takes the children’s writing in Lao She’s novels,essays,dramas and poems as the starting point to investigate Lao She’s literary creation and literary thoughts.Through the close reading of the text,this article sorts out the image of children in Lao She’s novels,plays and prose,and summarizes their characteristics by classification.It analyzes Lao She’s ways of showing children’s spiritual world in various styles,explores the changes of children’s ideas reflected in his works at various stages,and summarizes the significance of Lao She’s attention to children as a writer and educator.In addition to the introduction and conclusion,the main part of this article is divided into three chapters:the introduction briefly describes the discovery and liberation of children by the advocates of new literature since the May Fourth Movement,and the promotion of children’s independent literary status.It also defines the concept of "children",mainly involving the social and literary significance levels;and a brief summary of the existing research on children in Lao She’s writings.The first chapter starts from the specific images of children in Lao She’s writings,and comprehensively analyzes the representative images of children in each creative period,and divides them into suffering children,"distorted" children,young heroes and young masters with characteristics of the times,and ideal children.The second chapter explores the artistic techniques of Lao She’s writing of children.According to the stylistic features of novels,essays and children’s plays,it classifies and investigates Lao She’s artistic methods to flexibly display the childlike world in different styles.The third chapter focuses on the influence of Lao She’s literary thoughts and creative ideas on children’s writing,explores the subtle changes of Lao She’s children’s ideas and children’s writing in various creative periods,and reveals the uniqueness and rich connotation of Lao She’s children’s writing.
