Dangdai was founded in 1979,also was one of the most important large-scale literature periodicals since 1980s,Realism is the characteristic of Dangdai.In the forty years of its history,Dangdai has played an important role of "literature recording China".This paper makes a case study of Dangdai by two unique perspectives——editor&reader’s comments,investigating the role of editor and reader’s comments in the literary production and dissemination,and thus extending to the participation and construction of contemporary literature since 1980s.This paper consists of four chapters:an overview of editor&reader’s comments;reader’s comments to the literary production of periodicals;editor’s comments to the literary guidance of periodicals;the problems between readers and DangdaiThe first chapter discusses the concept,classification,function of editor&reader’s comments as well as the source and effect in the history of Chinese modern and contemporary literature,aiming to explain the common effect of editor&reader’s comments on the literary construction of periodicals.Secondly,the uniqueness of the editor&reader’s comments of Dangdai is discussed.There are two main forms of editor’s comments of Dangdai.In terms of content,the editors mainly recommend writers’ works,and the editors always take it as their duty to find new writers.The editors are the main promoters of the uniqueness of the journal,and the"Realism" that all the editors obey is the unique character of Dangdai.The reader’s comments of Dangdai are more abundant in forms and contents,and have continued to now days.The reader’s comments have also played an important role in the different development stages of this periodical.The second chapter basing on the editor’s comments,firstly counts the works commended by editors in their comments and the works from the readers’ letters Contrasting two lists,we can find that readers’ favorite works are always get editors’recommendation.So it is concluded that editor’s comments to some extent have guided the choices of the reader’s reading.The second section mainly discusses the editor’s opinion has an important role in the context of literature in the 1980s.By the analysis of the editing strategy in the 1980s and combination with the specific writers works,we can find that the editors use headlines,bold font,reviews and forums,and crowned by the official literary awards in the Scar Literature,Introspection Literature and Reform Literature to promote Dangdai actively participation the construction of Chinese contemporary literature.Finally the author makes a useful exploration of the reasons why the editor’s comments disappeared in the1990s.The third chapter discusses the effect of reader’s comments to the literary production of periodicals.Letter is the main form of reader’s comments of Dangdai.Considering columns and time node,this chapter firstly discusses the page of readers from 1979 to 1999 insection,classifying and summarizing the letters,and summarizes the role of reader’s comments in literary criticism,quality supervision,communication with the authors and the transmission of literature;The second and the third quarter take readers’ participation in the periodicals’literary awards as the breakthrough point,firstly discusses" Dangdai literary award",which has an immature development form and shorter time,and the reader’s comments has played a key role in the first few times of this award.The winners are the readers’ favorite authors However,the award become gradually deteriorate due to the participation of the third power.The third section mainly discusses the role of reader’s comments in literary competition,which has a proven organization and keep holding games today.The literary competition has improved and adjusted in the time and gradually has a relatively mature award pattern at home and abroad.Furthermore,the same theme of the prize-giving embodies the reader’s reading interests,and contains the meticulous planning strategies of editorsThe fourth chapter takes the problems between readers and Dangdai as the breakthrough point,we can find two phenomena,the first one is the stiff pattern in the Dangdai Reader Questionnaire,the second is the repeating readers in literary competition.Furthermore,Dangdai takes little value of reader’s comments gradually,the outflow of paper periodicals ’readers,and the editorial department has no ways of motivating readers to participation the communication with editors.The predicament of literary journals gives us great enlightenment,so the author puts forward some appropriate suggestions to solve the problems.
