Fang Renjie’s Chuci Reader is a commentary book on Chuci in the Qing Dynasty, which is a collection of notes and comments. It is an important bibliography of the school of Chuci studies in the Qing Dynasty. It is a pity that this book was exiled to Japan soon after its completion. At present, there are few articles in China to review this book. Therefore, this paper takes Fang Renjie’s Chuci Reader as the object of study, with a view to comprehensively, deeply and systematically reviewing Fang Renjie’s Chuci Reader and his book.Specifically, this article will be divided into three parts to explore. The first part is to explore Fang Renjie’s Chuci Reader. The author will be divided into two aspects: the life of his family and the exploration of his Chuci theory.Due to the scarcity of data, and the rare records of the other party’s outstanding family background, life and other information in the relevant historical records,we only know the basic information such as the name, native place and so on.Fang Renjie’s view on the study of Chu Ci can be summarized as follows: to blame oneself for not involving the monarch,to explain the Sao with fables, and to put forward a methodology for later generations to know "where their ambition lies, origin and lineage" when reading Chu Ci.In terms of bibliography, the revision of the original words in the "Reading Book of Chu Ci",the interpretation of the "Nine Songs" and the eyebrow review were all copied from Zhu Xi’s "Commentary on Chu Ci".In addition, the words and commentaries in the "Chu Ci Reader" also focus on Zhu’s notes, supplemented by Wang and Hong’s.Therefore,Fang Renjie’s Reading Book of Chu Ci is a special book for commenting on Chu Ci,which is based on Zhu Xi’s Commentary on Chu Ci and integrates annotations and comments. The second part is about the comment system of Chuci Reader.Fang Renjie’s "Reading Book of Chu Songs" is composed of three aspects: the method of commenting by comparing and appreciating poetry and prose, the thought of commenting by "Qi" thesis, and the standpoint of commenting by taking Confucianism as the core.First of all,Fang Renjie frequently compared and appreciated the Chu Ci with related poems of later generations when commenting on it,in order to tap the artistic charm of Chu Ci.Secondly,Fang Renjie’s theory of "Qi" is biased towards "Emotion" in terms of the writer, that is,to evaluate the emotional appeal conveyed by the poet’s thought-provoking emotion in the article; As far as works are concerned, they tend to focus on "shi",that is,to evaluate the poet’s strange feelings and great words and literary momentum driven by deep sadness, which reflects his idea of commenting on his thesis with "qi".Finally, the commenting position with Confucian justice as the core is reflected in its praise of the two spirits of "satire and remonstrance" and "resentment and thorn" in the Confucian poetry education,as well as its emphasis on the Confucian ethics and morality of "loyalty and filial piety".The third part is to explore the blood relationship between "Chuci Reader" and "Chuci",a school of contemporary literature in Qing Dynasty, and sort out the comments included in "Chuci Reader" and summarize its literary value.First of all,Fang Renjie’s Commentary on the Songs of Chu is characterized by the analysis of grammar and the attention to the structure of the article.Secondly,Fang Renjie’s theory of context mainly focuses on "emotion",that is,taking "emotion" as the center to understand the author’s heart, explain the general idea of the article, connect the context before and after, and be good at exploring the interactive relationship between emotion and scenery in the article, which is the special place of Fang Renjie’s "Chuci Reader" in connecting the context. Finally, the "Reading Book of Chu Ci" contains many different views of scholars of all ages on the contents, authors, artistic techniques and other issues of the "Chu Ci",which is of great literary value.
