With the fast progress of the times,the connection between China and the world is getting closer.An increasing number of Chinese people choose to experience foreign cultures by "going out".The most important thing in the English-Chinese translation of tourist texts is the accuracy and deep understanding of different cultures.Translators are required to have a deep understanding of colorful cultures,as the same time,the expression language should be authentic to readers as perfectly as possible.Taking tours in Stanford University as an example,with Newmark’s Communicative Translation Theory as a guideline,the author analyzes the application of theory and tries to provide some contributions in further study.First of all,the author illustrates Communicative Translation Theory,so as to finds key points that can guide the practice.As we know,Communicative Translation Theory is readers-centered,emphasizing readers’feeling.At the same time,the purpose of the tourist texts translation is to serve tourists and readers.Therefore,by providing some examples,the author would like to analyze how this theory can be applied to tourist texts translation.The author will analyze the original text from the lexical level,syntactic level and discourse level,using add annotations,separating or reorganization and other methods to analyze the original text and explain the choice of specific methods in translation.The author hopes that readers can understand Communicative Translation Theory more.In addition,I hope that this report can also cater to the thinking habits of Chinese readers,so as to promote the intercultural communications.Last,the author hopes to provide some help and findings for future research.
