A Study On Tribal Factors In Post-war Reconstruction Of Libya

Horde has always been an important factor in the historical development of the Arab nation and the construction of the modern nation-state.Tribal issues are also widespread social and political problems in Arab countries in the Middle East.Middle Eastern countries have made strenuous efforts in the development of modernization,but their traditional tribal social structure is still widespread,tribalism is still popular.Under the authoritarian rule of political strongmen,tribal problems will be temporarily suppressed by the powerful,and once the authoritarian rule breaks down,tribal contradictions will erupt,which will lead to social unrest and even civil war.The political fallout from the Arab Spring,which erupted at the end of 2010,has stirred up violent social unrest in the Middle East,with its destructive power and wide spread,shaking the world.Libya,a North African Arab country composed of six major tribes(or tribes),also became the main epicenter of the political earthquake.Under Qaddafi’s authoritarian rule,Libya’s internal resources and wealth were unevenly distributed,corruption prevailed,unemployment remained high,the contradictions between the six major tribes caused by the traditional tribal hierarchy accumulated over time,and the political and economic interests of its family’s tribes and other tribes were growing,culminating in a Libyan civil war between tribal groups and their armed forces,triggered by the Arab Spring in late 2010.Therefore,this "Arab Spring" triggered by the Libyan civil war,to a large extent can also be called the contemporary Libyan tribal war.In the last ten years since the civil war broke out,Libya has not completed political reconciliation and reunification within the country,and the reconstruction of the country after the war has been difficult.Libya represents a typical Arab tribal society in the Middle East.Its colonial period,the independence of the idris dynasty,the collapse of qaddafi’s regime,and the current post-war reconstruction of the country’s numerous difficulties are closely related to libya’s complex tribal contradictions.As the most basic social organization unit in Libya,the tribal ideology,which remains deeply rooted,still plays an important role in the post-war reconstruction of Libya,which not only hinders the process of nationalreconstruction,but also is a key factor in the process of national reconstruction.In a short period of time,Libya’s traditional tribes can hardly be replaced and disappeared by other social organizations.Therefore,it is necessary to study the post-war national unity and reconstruction from the unique historical perspective of "tribe ".On the basis of systematically combing the tribal factors in the development of Libya’s history,this paper makes a preliminary study on the tribal factors in the reconstruction of Libya’s country,combined with the civil war in the Arab Spring and the current background of its post-war reconstruction.
