| Chad civil war is a tragic disaster in African history。 the war not only has bring a great loss to Chad, which was source of the war, but also to its neighbors, Sudan, Libya and other countries, so that such a civil war is gradually transformed into a brutal regional wars in Africa. The ethnic conflict, distribution of benefits, historical factors, uneven regional development, territorial disputes, foreign intervention and the Cold War was the important reason for the outbreak, upgrades and spillover of the war.Chad civil war can be roughly divided into three phases. from1963to1979, is first phase of the war, in which the ethnic conflict between southern blacks and northern Muslims was the main contradiction in Chad. the history of the North-South ethnic conflict, the colonial policy and religious conflicts has play a major role. From the establishment of transitional government until Goukouni has been defeated by Habre is second phase of the war (from1979to1986). In this phase, the religious and ethnic conflict between the north and south has gradually transformed into the struggle for the right to govern between these armed factions in north. In short, the Involvement of external factors has made the Chad became a battle arena of big powers.From1986tol994is the third phase of the war. After Goukouni’s defeat, Gaddafi has lost his "Proxy" in Chad. Gaddafi have to personally confront to Habre who supporting by United States and France. However, with changes in the international situation, Gaddafi has gradually the support from Soviet Union. Without the support, Libya can not organize counterattack, and has no choice but signed an agreement with Deby for resolve the problem of Aouzou and completely quit from Chad.The impact of the war on Chad is profound. During the war, the ethnic hatred has been aggravated, a lot of weapons flow into the private sector,_increasing these uncertain factors to the stability of country. However, we should learn the lessons from this war. Problems faced by African countries, not just the that of economic, those more important is how to deal with the problem of construction of nation-state, in the development process.
