The TZU-Cbib tung-cbien cbang-pien was a book chronicling the one hundred and sixty-eight years history of the Northern Song Dynasty and one of the most basic historical materials for the study of the history of the Northern Song Dynasty.Summary of the Siku Quanshu said that it was "very far-reaching and detailed and was an encyclopedia for the textural research of history learmers."This comment was rather appropriate.Li Tao spent 40 years and devoted his lifelong energy to the writing of the Extended Continuation.With the compiling principle of "better losing simplicity than complexity",the data compiled in it were extremely rich.Ever since the completion of the Extended Continuation,it has been handed down from generation to generation and no longer intact.Among them,the histone from April,the 4th Year of Zhiping Period of Emperor Yingzonng to March,the 3rd Year of Xining Period of Emperor Shenzong,from July,the 8th Year of Yuanyou Period of Emperor Zhezong to March,the 4th Year of Shaosheng Period,from February to December of the 3rd Year of yuanfu Period and the whole history during the reign of Emperor Huizong and Em eriorQinzong were missing.The supplementation of the Extended Continuation has been started as early as the Qing Dynasty.Based on the notes of Extended Continuation to History as a Mirror written by Yang Zhongliang in the Song Dynasty,in the 8th Year of Guangx.u Period in the img Dynasty,Huang Yizhou et al.recompiled the missing part in the Extended Continuation and completed SuPPlements to Extended Continuation to History as a Mirror in 60 volumes(hereinafter referred to as the Supplements to Extended Continuation).However,the contents in the Supplements to Extended Continuation are not eomplete,either.And the data it was founded on were not the original text of the Extended Continuation.Since the Southern Song Dynasty,there were many historical texts quoting the Extended Continuation.We can compile these historical texts on this ground,sort them out in volumes,arrange historical facts in chronological order and collate the words and sentences in them.This would be a very necessary and meaningful thingIn this addendum,a total of 80.000 words of lost articles in the Extended Continuation were compiled and classified into volumes by dynasty.And three suspected lost articles in the Extended Continuation were attached,with the source of each article indicated behind the article,for ease of collation and verification.
