A Report On The Translation Of Social News On Huanqiu.com From The Perspective Of Communicative Translation Theory

The development of globalization has promoted communication between countries,and news plays the role of passing the message and disseminating culture.Currently,domestic news could no longer satisfy Chinese people’s needs for knowing social events.As a result,trans-editing collaboration platform rises in response to the right moment.This translation practice has been carried out to conduct research on foreign news of “society” channel commissioned by this platform.Under the guidance of Peter Newmark’s communicative translation theory,the translation practice report has been completed.The text,which derives from English websites designated by trans-editing collaboration platform,belongs to informative text.During the practice,the paper aims at accurately pass the original message to pose the similar effect on target readers which is same as that conducted by original text on original readers based on the principle of communicative translation.The report is divided into 4 parts.The first part describes the translation task,which mainly introduces task background and the source of task,and analyzes the content,features and specific requirements of task text.The second part demonstrates the translation process,which includes pre-translation preparation,translation practice and post-translation proofreading.The communicative translation theory and its applicability to this translation practice have been introduced.The third part is analyzing translation cases.Under the instruction of communicative translation theory,specific cases have been cited to discuss how to translate from the fronts of word,sentence and paragraph.The last part is the conclusion of translation practice,consisting of experience and shortcomings during the practice.Through this practice,the main harvest has been a deeper understanding of the translation of informative text and Newmark’s communicative translation theory,with a hope that this practical experience can lay a solid foundation for future translation work in this field.
