Homework is often regarded as an extension of the classroom teaching,which is closely related to teachers,students and even parents.Homework design is the first step of homework assignment,involving teachers’ understanding of teaching,knowledge of subjects,concern for students,monitor and control of teaching progress and effect,etc.It is an important and easily ignored ability.Therefore,this research mainly studies the following three questions:(1)What are the current frequency,distribution of types and problems in the design of English homework in junior middle school?(2)From the perspective of students,what are their understanding and attitudes towards the design of English homework in junior high school?(3)From the perspective of teachers,what are the ideas and reasons for their homework design?Through the continuous collection of homework content,the distribution of questionnaires to students and interviews with teachers,it is found there is still a great room for progress about the homework design.First,in terms of current situation and problems,the amount of work is slightly excessive that most students can finish their homework within 30 minutes to an hour.The type of homework is rather single.It mainly consists of exercises,copying and reciting tasks and other written homework.The principle of homework design is limited.Teachers pay attention to the pertinence of designing homework,but seldom use the principles of differentiation,interest,creativity,practicality and diversity.The function and purpose of homework are not comprehensive.Teachers focus on consolidating knowledge and improving examgrades,hardly use homework design to stimulate students’ interest in learning and to promote the development of multiple intelligences.Second,for students,although there are deficiencies with homework,they acknowledge homework’s contribution to English learning.Third,for teachers,due to the current situation,they lack time and opportunity to innovate on homework.In the end,suggestions and limitations of this research are put forward. |
