An Investigative Research On The Application Of Information-based Teaching In Senior High School English Teaching

With the rapid development of information technology and the deepening of education and teaching reform,the process of education informatization is accelerating.Under the guidance of advanced educational thoughts,it has become the common understanding of the majority of education departments and teachers to widely use modern information technology and information-based teaching resources for teaching.In order to achieve good results in information-based teaching,schools should have a complete set of information-based software and hardware facilities,and teachers should have high professional quality and information-based teaching ability.In this study,167 English teachers from 11 senior high schools in Nanchang city and Gao’an city are taken as the research objects.According to the theory of teacher professional development of Berliner,D.C.,the 167 teachers are divided into three types by their teaching age and professional title.Among them,35 teachers are novice with less than 4-year-teaching age and junior professional title,35 teachers are expert with more than 15-year-teaching age and senior professional title,and the remaining 97 teachers are proficient.And 41 teachers are from provincial excellent key high schools,73 teachers are from provincial key high schools and 53 teachers are from ordinary high schools.By using the methods of questionnaire and interview,the research was carried out in terms of the school’s teaching facilities,teachers’ teaching concept,teachers’ information-based teaching design ability,teachers’ information-based teaching effect and the training of teachers’ information-based teaching.The data were analyzed and discussed.The main findings are as follows.Firstly,the information-based software and hardware facilities in the surveyed schools basically meet the needs of the information-based teaching.However,software facilities lag behind the hardware ones,especially in ordinary high schools.And professional staff for information-based teaching facilities management are lacking.Secondly,most of the surveyed English teachers generally understand and recognize the approach of information-based teaching,and novice teachers have the strongest information-based teaching concept and awareness.Thirdly,the design ability of information-based teaching for the surveyed English teachers is greatly different,the proficient teachers’ information-based teaching design ability is obviously better than the novice teachers and expert teachers.Fourthly,the effect of information-based teaching for the surveyed English teachers needs improving.Although proficient teachers’ information-based teaching effect is better than that of novice teachers,and novice teachers’ is better than that of expert teachers.Fifthly,most of the surveyed English teachers have training requirements in information-based teaching.And the initiative and desire of the training of the information-based teaching of the proficient and novice teachers are obviously stronger than that of the expert teachers.Based on the above findings,this paper puts forward some strategies to improve the level of information-based English teaching in senior high school.Firstly,to improve the teachers’ teaching effect by optimizing the facilities of information-based teaching.Secondly,to improve the teachers’ information-based teaching awareness by changing the teaching concept.Thirdly,to improve the teachers’ application capability by training the skill of information-based teaching.
