Hip hop culture,as a representative youth subculture,has formed a unique cultural field among the contemporary youth groups.From the beginning of its origin,the resistance to the mainstream culture has always been accompanied by hip hop culture.In a broad sense,hip-hop culture includes four elements: graffiti,hip-hop dance,disc playing and rap.Later,in its development process,it gradually integrates street basketball,hip-hop clothing,tattoo,street basketball,skateboarding and various extreme sports and other elements.Generally,hip-hop culture in a narrow sense only includes four elements:graffiti,hip-hop dance,disc playing and rap.In the current Chinese language environment,hip-hop is directly "equivalent" to rap in general.Hip hop culture with rap as the main form of expression originated in the United States.After entering China as an exotic cross-cultural communication,it has been in the state of underground development for a long time,wandering outside the mainstream cultural system.Since 2017,iqiyi,a Chinese video entertainment company,has launched a variety show called "hip hop in China",which has attracted wide attention since its broadcast.Hip hop culture,once a small subculture,has appeared in the discourse system of mass media for the first time.Iqiyi successively launched the first and second seasons of the same series of programs "new rap in China" in 2018 and 2019 respectively,further improving the attention of hip-hop culture.Because the audience of its programs is mainly Chinese domestic audiences,there is a "hip-hop fever" in China,and the new turn and localization of hip-hop culture also follows.Starting from the rapid rise of Chinese rap groups in recent years,this paper mainly discusses the origin and development of hip-hop culture,the interaction between hip-hop culture and Chinese mainstream culture in the process of cross-cultural communication,and the identity change of this subculture group.The research blueprint of this study is hip-hop culture and Chinese rap groups.The research methods are semi-structured interview,text analysis and case analysis.The selected cases are hip-hop in China and new rap in China.The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics and forms of hip-hop culture after entering the mass media discourse system,and how Chinese rap groups construct their self-identity and group identity by means of interviews,text analysis and case analysis.It is found that in the process of localization of hip-hop culture,the group boundaries of Chinese rap groups are gradually blurred,and the process of self-identity construction and group identity is full of anxiety and uneasiness;in the process of interaction with mainstream culture,the connotation and extension of hip-hop spirit change,and the works produced are not reflective and critical;the prevalence and consumerism The development of mass media makes the form of hip-hop culture more diversified,the characteristics of group differentiation are obvious,and the group identity presents a diversified development trend.
