There are 411 sculptures in 71 niches on the cliff of Yuchan mountain in Luxian County,which are mainly carved in Ming Dynasty.At this time,they are in the declining period of Bashu grottoes,and the overall situation of the sculptures is poor,and they are not brilliant.However,the development and formation of the statues on the cliff of Yuchan mountain in this period is particularly special,which has an irreplaceable important position in terms of both large and small scale and artistic value and is a rare art High quality products.Starting from the analysis of the artistic value of the cliff statues of Yuchan mountain in Luxian County,this paper mainly makes a systematic and in-depth analysis of the formation background,artistic characteristics and technical performance of the cliff statues of Yuchan mountain in Luxian County,explores its rich artistic and cultural connotation,and explores its artistic,religious and historical values.In a specific historical period,the formation of Yuchan mountain cliff statues,to a certain extent,extended the life course of Bashu grottoes,fully demonstrated the tenacious vitality of Bashu grottoes,and was the crystallization of the wisdom of ancient working people.Yuchan mountain cliff statues follow the basic law of art creation.On the basis of inheriting the previous generation,they integrate the regional historical and cultural characteristics,carry out certain innovation,and enhance the vitality of the statues.The folk and Secularity of the statues are more significant,and the secular interest is more full and rich.Absorbing and inheriting the excellent traditional creative techniques in history,we have created a group of living religious images.The planning and layout of cliff statues in Yuchan mountain respect nature,adapt to local conditions,scientifically and reasonably manage the positions of statues,and carefully design and arrange them;make good use of nature,and skillfully use the scenery of mountains and forests to set off the mysterious and solemn atmosphere of religious statues;people-oriented,fully consider the feelings of the audience,and create the best religious environment for the believers to meditate and understand the Tao.The formation of the cliff statues in Yuchan mountain has written another wonderful chapter of Bashu grottoes,which plays an important role in the study of the statues of Bashu Grottoes in the Ming Dynasty,and also has important value in the study of the regional history and culture,social life and customs in Luxian county.
