| With the development of China,spreading Chinese culture is becoming more and more important.Central Plains culture which is the significant component of Chinese culture is the source of Chinese culture.Therefore,spreading Chinese culture can start with Central Plains culture.However,its translation appears insufficient in today’s China.The translator chose the text of the special regional culture to translate,for which the material selected is Interpretation of Central Plains Culture.The material is Interpretation of Central Plains Culture published by Wenxin Publishing House in 2007.The report mainly focuses on two sections:Foreword and Prehistorical Culture.Foreword is a basic summary of the book.And Prehistory covers prehistorical culture which is the source of Central Plains culture and lays the foundation for it.Interpretation of Central Plains Culture is a popular book on Central Plains culture which is interesting with sufficient knowledge.The translation of the book will exert significance in the spreading of Central Plains culture and promoting China’s cultural soft power.Under the guidance of Peter Newmark’s theory of text type,the translator analyzed the text type of Interpretation of Central Plains Culture and identified that it belongs to the informative text and then analyzed typical translation cases at various levels,including the lexical level and the syntactic level.The report explores the way in detail of how to translate some special expressions in Chinese such as culture-loaded words and terminologies,how to use connectives and how to deal with metaphor.The translator tried to tackle various difficulties met in the text and then proposed feasible solutions to the difficulties as well as some new views on culture translation,and the translator hopes that the practice can provide enlightenment on culture translation. |
