In recent years,the research on the ecology of classroom has become a hot topic.The non-ecological phenomena existing in the traditional teaching have aroused great concern.This study applies basic ecological principles to analyze the non-ecological phenomena in secondary vocational English classroom and puts forward multimodal teaching approaches in constructing ecological classroom from the following four aspects,teaching environment,teacher-student relationship,teaching methods and teaching evaluation.On the basis of the ecology of education,the theory of humanistic learning,constructivism and multiple intelligence theory,the author carries out the teaching experiment to the experimental class for four months by using such methods as questionnaires,interviews and classroom observations and then analyzes experimental data.The experiment results show that:1.The multimodal methods can help build ecological teaching environment.2.The multimodal methods of classroom management and communication can improve teacher-student relationship.3.The multimodal methods of teaching can motivate students’ interest in learning.4.The multimodal methods of evaluation can enhance students’ learning confidence.In conclusion,multimodal teaching mode is effective to the construction of ecological classroom,and may throw light on English teaching research.
