Abstract/Summary:
Study Objectives: Investigating the differences of sleep disorders and the feature of sleep disorders among senile dementia.Methods: The subjects were all come from the Department of Geriatrics in the First Affiliated of Chongqing Medical University from2016 to 2019.There were 752 subjects involved in the study.They were classified as two groups according to their scores of the MMSE,that is,cognitive normal(411 subjects)and dementia(341 subjects).The dementia were further classified as three groups that involved mild(133 subjects,21-26 scores),moderate(167 subjects,10-20 scores)and severe dementia(41 subjects,0-9 scores).Researching the differences in scores and each factor in PSQI scales among these groups.Results: The total scores of dementia and the scores of Sleep Onset,Sleep Efficiency and Day Function Disorder were all higher than cognitive normal(P<0.05).The total scores of mild,moderate and severe dementia decreased one by one(P<0.05).Comparing the factors in PSQI among the three dementia group,the mild group’s score of Day Function Disorder was less than the other two groups(P<0.05)while the scores of Sleep Onset,Sleep Efficiency and Day Function Disorder in severe and moderate dementia were higher than the mild(P<0.05).Conclusion: Patients with dementia had more serious sleep disorders than normal ones and with the deepening of dementia,sleep disorders were also aggravated.In addition,there were some differences in the characteristics of sleep disorders among three dementia groups.Not only Day Function Disorder but Sleep Onset and Sleep Efficiency were affected in moderate and severe dementia compared to the mild group.The selection of sleeping pills depended on different characteristics of sleep disorders.It’s necessary to intervene and treat the sleep disorders in people with dementia.
